The 17th Theo Quant Meetings
Reflections and Practices in Theoretical and Quantitative Geography
February 4–6, 2026
Claude-Nicolas Ledoux Center for Human and Environmental Sciences, Besançon, France
Organized by ThéMA Research Laboratory (UMR 6049 CNRS), University of Marie & Louis Pasteur, Besançon
The Théo Quant Meetings are a key event for the scientific community in theoretical and quantitative geography.
We are pleased to announce that the 17th edition will be held from February 4 to 6, 2026 in Besançon, at the Claude-Nicolas Ledoux Center for Human and Environmental Sciences, located in the heart of the historic city center, surrounded by its green setting.
The Théo Quant Meetings have always crossed the boundaries of the geographers’ and academics’ communities, welcoming all those seeking to measure and qualify the mutual influences between space and social, economic, physical and ecological processes.
In a complex, changing world where digital technologies, geolocalization and big data are widespread, analysing, modeling and giving new meanings to these data remains an ongoing challenge for geography, as it is for many other disciplines.
The Théo Quant Meetings provide an opportunity to discuss these issues across disciplines and generations, in plenary sessions, thematic sessions and workshops.
This year, we invite you to present and discuss your work in a selection of thematic sessions, proposed and led by participants. The call for sessions aims to highlight current issues or emerging theoretical debates in the field.
If you wish to propose and chair a session, please submit an abstract (maximum 3000 characters, including references) by June 1, 2025, via the website: https://theoquant2026.sciencesconf.org/
The scientific committee will notify authors of acceptance by June 15, 2025 at the latest.
